How to Enjoy Your Own Company After 40
Spending time alone and feeling lonely aren’t necessarily the same thing. As our lives change, we may find ourselves spending more time on our own—sometimes by choice and sometimes because of circumstances we didn’t choose. In this episode of the Bloom and Beyond Podcast, I share what I learned from spending my 59th birthday on my own and explore how we can become more comfortable enjoying our own company without losing the importance of meaningful relationships and social connection. We’ll talk about doing things without waiting for someone else to join us, creating things to look forward to, staying curious as we get older, recognizing when solitude has become loneliness, and continuing to build a life we genuinely enjoy. Learning to enjoy your own company doesn’t mean choosing a life without other people. It means realizing that your life doesn’t have to be put on hold when you’re by yourself. Subscribe to Bloom and Beyond for practical, evidence-informed conversations about health, healthy aging, and living well after 40.
